FECUAN is the continuation of the College of Economics of the University of Luanda, created by Decree-Law No. 456/70 of October 2, 1970, which began operating in the 1970-1971 academic year. After independence, its Planned Economics program has graduated to Planning and Accounting and Finance.

In the 90’s, during the transition to Market Economies, the institution taught the Economics and Management degrees; At the time, the courses lasted five years, without thesis defense. Since 2005 the courses have been reduced to 4 years, but with a thesis; The specialties grew from 4 until 2012 to 5 in 2013.
